Microsoft has recently announced that as from March 2022 it will be introducing some changes to licence pricing, including for the Microsoft 365 suite of services.
We don’t yet have full details of what this will mean in the UK market, but Microsoft has confirmed that:
- In the US, the monthly price of a Business Basic licence will increase by $1 and Business Premium will increase by $2
- It will be possible to opt for annual fees rather than monthly, to secure better pricing. This may be an attractive option to businesses whose licences numbers are unlikely to drop.
Whilst the price rise may not be welcome, it should be noted that licence fees have remained at the same level for the last 10 years.
During that last decade, much development has taken place to keep Microsoft 365 aligned with the changing needs of customers. Since the initial release, 25 new apps and over 1400 features have been added, including the highly popular collaboration tool, Microsoft Teams.
As soon as we know more about UK pricing and the annual contract option, we will publish more details.
In the meantime, if your organisation might have any licences assigned to users who are no longer working in the business, then this is an opportune time to review and streamline what you are paying for.
