This is a routing phone solution that integrates into Microsoft 365.
It enables you to unify your calls, chat messages, meetings, calendar and email, and it differs from a hosted telephone system as there is no need for a phone handset . You use your PC or Mac as your telephone.
It has a number of attractive features which include:
- Your IT and phone system all in one place – a seamless link between the work you do in Microsoft Teams, and your telephone communications
- You can make “office” calls from anywhere that you’re online (for example at home with your laptop)
- It can be used for audio calls, video calls and conference calls – just by using your keyboard & mouse
- It is similar to the Teams audio and video calling that many of us have been using whilst working remotely – but enabling you to call anyone, not just other Microsoft Teams users
- The collaboration between Gamma and Microsoft in the provision of this solution shows a recognition by both parties that there is likely to be growing demand for this type of set-up over the next few years, and they want to be in this space early in the process.
Microsoft does have its own Calling Plans but recognises that at present its pricing and some service feature restrictions don’t currently place it where it wants to be in the market.
Gamma is using its infrastructure (via SIP trunks) to enable phone calls to be made straight from Microsoft Teams. Calls are made over the internet and are hosted by Gamma, bringing the highest level of reliability.
