Apple releases Ventura

Within the last month, Apple has launched the latest Operating System for Mac – which it has named Ventura. It will run on almost any Mac released in the last five years.

The key enhancements that Ventura brings, are:

  • Schedule Send for email, allowing you to set a future date and time for a message to be sent.
  • The ability to edit or delete recently sent mail – but only within 10 seconds of sending it!
  • Continuity Camera which enables you to use the high tech camera in your iPhone as a webcam, instead of the lower tech camera in your Mac. A clip can be purchased to attach the phone to the Mac, but is not really necessary.
  • Stage Manager, which allows you to focus on one or two apps with fewer distractions, by putting them in the centre of the screen and moving everything else out of the way.
  • An improved and faster Search facility within Mail. Searches now include Google-style synonym searching and autocorrect for mistyped words. The Search will automatically scan all your mailboxes, rather than you having to specify which ones to look in.
  • Shared Library feature that you can set up from the app’s Preferences and share with family members or anyone else. Be aware, though, that anyone in the group can delete photos in the shared library.
  • Security enhancements include Passkeys – a secure login method that’s an alternative to passwords.
