Who We Are

HJS Technology was incorporated in March 2007. Essentia Technology and HJS Accountants merged to form an outstanding IT support and IT services, telecoms and document solutions provider based in Southampton, Hampshire. With decades of technical excellence, prices matched to your budget and a team of specialist engineers in-house and field based covering the South.

Our goal is to help eradicate or reduce disruption and downtime associated with IT whilst keeping your costs to a minimum, your systems secure, planning for the future and ensuring that your IT provides you the results that your business needs to thrive.

James

James Gibson

Managing Director

James’s background was originally within the Document Solutions industry and from this he migrated to the ever-evolving IT world due to the convergence of the technologies. As founder of HJS Technology, the enviable success of the company has been built on his passion for building partnerships with customers, associates and employees through integrity, accountability and empowerment. James’s professionalism and experience ensures that he maintains a commercial perspective using plain English to simplify complicated technology subjects while maintaining a hands-on approach to many daily activities. James’s strategic thinking and innovative qualities along with practical solution-finding abilities have helped build not just on the success of HJS Technology but on the success of our customers. To relax James is an avid music fan, not just listening but also playing the drums and piano.

Kevin

Kevin Tilyard

Director

As a founding member of HJS Technology, Kevin has extensive practical knowledge, technical expertise of complex infrastructure, technical support, network support and understanding the needs of customers to leverage technology to drive business activities. This is achieved through the use of secure, reliable, expandable information technology solutions. In his role as Technical Director, Kevin oversees the Technical Team working closely with the managers on preventative, long-term services for our clients. Kevin’s qualifications come from the highest end manufacturers including Microsoft and Cisco and include the highly acclaimed PRINCE2 Project Management Certification. Outside interests include travelling; having spent 6 months exploring Australia and New Zealand, competitive running, gardening, music and Kevin is a keen Chelsea supporter.

Anne

Anne Edwards

Director

Anne has been involved with the operations and finances of HJS Technology since soon after the company was formed. She became a Director in 2012. Anne has a pivotal role in the planning and strategy of the business, and at the core of everything she does there is a strong desire to ensure that exemplary customer service is delivered. Her focus is complemented by previous commercial experience gained in banking, where she worked closely with SMEs, giving her a true understanding of the challenges facing business owners. When not helping customers and supporting the HJS Technology team, Anne has a passion for international travel – off the beaten track exploration and getting close-up with wildlife!

Richard

Richard

Associate Director

Richard gained a BA in Computer and Information Sciences at Brighton University and started his IT career in a corporate organisation, gaining a broad array of technical skills. He then moved into the owner-managed business market, to broaden his skills working with a variety of industries and company sizes. Richard’s passion lies in helping source the correct solution for customers and helping them through the journey from start to finish. Outside of work, Richard appreciates the local countryside, keeping fit on long dog walks and running in the New Forest.

Account Manager

Charlie joined HJS Technology in 2012. In his role as Account Manager, his focus is to ensure that customers receive a high level of service and that they have the latest solutions in place to keep their systems efficient and secure. In his ‘spare’ time, Charlie is a busy father. He also enjoys spending time in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, and takes part in fundraising for a number of charities which are close to his heart.

Patrick

Patrick

Helpdesk Manager

Patrick is a great asset to HJS Technology, since moving over from the Emerald Isle. As well as having a love of the “black stuff”, he also has a vast expertise in working with SMEs. After qualifying, Patrick worked as an internal IT technician for a large corporation before moving to the managed services sector for a more varied and challenging experience. Extended areas of interest include in-depth Microsoft 365 and Azure specialisms. Patrick is a cat-loving, ultimate frisbee player!

Projects Manager

Ben has extensive, practical experience of installation, maintaining and fixing various operating systems, hardware, desktop peripherals, IT network systems and firewalls. His role involves resolving support issues for customers, both remotely and on-site. Ben’s meticulous approach, can-do attitude and friendly approach, along with a thirst for knowledge regarding changes in technology make him a huge asset to the team. Ben’s other interests include playing the guitar, running and herpetology.

Anthony

Customer Service Manager

Before joining HJS Technology, Anthony worked in customer service for for a large national manufacturing company, handling and resolving customer queries. He strives to provide the highest level of service, using his strong communication skills and his problem-solving experience. Outside of work Anthony enjoys the practical and problem-solving skills involved in building a racing car, keeping up to date with the latest technology, going to racing events and shows.

Alex

Alex

IT Technician

Alex has many years’ experience in the world of IT and has also worked as a sound engineer and lighting technician. He enjoys problem-solving and the opportunity to continually grow his knowledge.

Outside of work, Alex’s interests include 3D printing, airsoft, electronic engineering, live music and camping. He has also become something of a DIY expert through the renovation of his house – making it a smart home.

IT Technician

Angus has been providing businesses with IT support since 2014. He enjoys working on a wide variety of issues and being able to resolve problems for customers, in a timely manner. Outside of work, Alex’s passion is music and he’s a big collector of vinyl. He also loves all things Japan, and is a supporter of Southampton Football Club

Before joining HJS Technology, Ethan’s university studies were in the field of technology – he gained a Bachelor’s in Forensic Computing and a Masters in the Internet of Things. In his job, Ethan enjoys getting involved in a range of different technologies, and helping customers resolve their IT issues.

Outside of work, Ethan is keen on rock-climbing and following Formula One. His travel plans revolve around attending Grand Prix events abroad.

George enjoys nothing more than the challenge of fixing things – IT related of course! With experience gained in SMEs and local Government, he is a great asset to our team and to the wide variety of customers requiring support. When not in front of a screen or with a screwdriver in hand, George has a passion for outdoor adventures – fishing, camping and hiking.

Jordan enjoys solving problems for customers and likes to challenge himself by getting to grips with new technologies. When not at work, Jordan enjoys football and fishing.

Kirsty is a passionate, innovative and experienced customer-centric marketer who fully understands that exceptional customer service plays a huge part in the success of both HJS Technology, our customers and partners. The relationships that we build are essential for great customer service. Kirsty enjoys nothing more than introducing the wonderful people at HJS Technology to new businesses for those businesses to benefit from IT solutions that will help them to achieve their business goals.

Liam Birch

IT Technician

In his role as an IT Technician with HJS Technology, Liam enjoys troubleshooting, diagnosing issues and assisting customers with their IT-related problems. His main skills include problem-solving, great customer service and communication and he shows exceptional attention to detail. Liam has a great interest in emerging technologies including Cloud Based and AI solutions. When not in front of a screen Liam enjoys board games, a welcome release from tech and playing football. A great way of keeping fit!

Mark-Tilyard

Technical Administrator

Mark has been involved in various aspects of IT since the early 90s, from programming through to technical support, project management and directorship. Having worked in the Civil Service, global blue-chip commercial operations and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) his understanding of the various working cultures is extensive. After working with a vertical market audio software solution in the broadcast world, Mark set up his own business providing audio and video services (including voiceover work for cartoons and commercials). Mark brings his wide experience to HJS Technology, working on specific projects to streamline customers’ operations. Outside work hours, Mark is passionate about audio (both listening and producing), synthesizers, DJing, cycling and spending time with his two daughters.

Martin

IT Technician

Originally from Lytham St Annes, Martin moved to the South Coast in 1997 to study at Southampton University and stayed! He has gained valuable experience and expertise, both as an internal and external engineer. He loves a challenge and helping customers who have any complex problems to solve – with a real focus on customer interaction and relationship building. Outside of work, Martin enjoys flying stunt kites, miniature painting and board games.

IT Technician

Matthew’s role as helpdesk engineer utilises his troubleshooting and communication skills, identifying problems and guiding customers through corrective steps. Technology features outside of work too, as Matthew runs some gaming servers and is a bit of a coder! He is also a keen rock-climber and enjoys camping in the great outdoors.

Before joining HJS Technology, Thomas spent four years in a Customer Service role in the real estate sector. He enjoys the interaction with a range of different customers, always striving to give the best service possible. Outside of work, Thomas enjoys playing Airsoft and is a fan of Liverpool FC.

Customer Service Adviser

Tom joined HJS Technology with a broad experience within customer service, from his previous role. He thrives on helping other people and enjoys being able to assist customers with a wide range of issues. Outside of work, that desire to help others extends to voluntary work with the Police Cadets. When he gets some down time, Tom enjoys walks in the New Forest.
