Congratulations to HJS Technology’s Technical Director, Kevin Tilyard, on completing his inaugural century bike ride, participating in the Ride 100 London – Essex event.
He raised well over his target for the very worthwhile charity Prostate Cancer UK. What an achievement!
Kev said: “After a very early start, I had an hour’s walk with the other 20,000+ cyclists from Parliament Square, down Whitehall, right at Trafalgar Square and left down Victoria Embankment. Finally we were off!
“Heading out to the east, we left the City behind and ventured towards Epping Forest, enjoying the traffic-free roads and flat Essex countryside. As we neared Braintree, the route took us back towards London.
“Local supporters encouraged us throughout the route, which was fantastic and really helped. The weather was kind with only a brief but heavy shower, perfectly timed for us at the Chipping Ongar checkpoint where we took shelter. Six hours after we left, we found ourselves back in London, taking in Canary Wharf, The O2, The Olympic Village and finally crossing the finish line on Tower Bridge.
“After a hot drink at a café alongside London Bridge, it was another eight miles back to our car before the trip home – as we hadn’t already had enough of cycling!”
